This fort was built by the Portugese and was pulled down by the Dutch. Sir Stamford Raffles, founder of Singapore, was visiting Malacca and told them to stop. This gate to the 'A Famosa' fort was all that remained.

The building in the background, with the brown roof, was the first headquarters of Dunlop.
