South Coast Track - Day 7

Lion Rock to Cockle Creek

John-Paul-Chris-Dave-at-End

The track from Lion Rock to Cockle Creek is flat and easy. We passed quite a number of locals also walking this section of the track. We also passed a few surfers who were carrying their surboards the 9kms to enjoy the surf break at Lion Rock. While it is easy walking I cannot imagine too many Sydney siders walking 9kms, each way, through the bush to enjoy a surf in Tassie’s frigid waters.

Our bus was due to collect us at 12:30, so we set off at 9.00 at a  leisurely pace towards Cockle Creek.

Day 7 - Hill Profile

You can see from the hill profile that the highest we got on this day was 44m and this was from a start of about 10m in elevation. Bushwalks do not come much easier and we enjoyed our final wander on the South Coast Track. The only downer was that the tempareature was forecast to hit 27 degrees and it was warming up while we were walking.
